Creator Alert!

Hello Reader,

Why this Alert?

If you use Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, this is important.

Adobe has released security updates to patch a zero-day vulnerability and Adobe recommends updating your software

In fact, Adobe classified this as Priority 1 which means DO IT NOW!

Our thoughts:

The exact information of the exploits has not been released yet, but needless to say, it’s pretty serious.

It seems that part of the update may also fix older vulnerabilities that allow hackers to exploit session tokens on your computer.

THIS IS BAD!

If a hacker can get those tokens, they may be able to get into the websites that you can access without logging in. Such as your YouTube channel!

Again, and to be clear, no deep info has been released but this is from reading the various release notes.

How does this impact you as a Creator?

Many Creators use the Adobe Suite of products such as Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Of course, Adobe Acrobat is available with the same bundle and many Creators use Adobe Reader to read PDF files.

What should you do?

Adobe recommends users update their software installations to the latest versions by following the instructions below:

  • Users can update their product installations manually by choosing Help > Check for Updates.
  • The products will update automatically, without requiring user intervention, when updates are detected.
  • The full Acrobat Reader installer can be downloaded from the Acrobat Reader Download Center.
